The Ambient Panorama 03: When Nature Becomes a Soundtrack
26 days agoIn the third installment of “The Ambient Panorama”, I’m pleased to share my passion for ambient and modern classical music, along with a desire to support the talented artists within this genre. Hosted by the wonderful team at letssubmit, this series highlights music releases that I believe are truly worth your attention. 2025 sets aside with a look at Le Code and KapTep’s EP “Urban Garden”. The music is an immersive ambient exploration, which follows a path towards nature healing, a concept that is becoming more and more crucial in nowadays society. Where everything is technology and hecticity, being surrounded by the unwinding notion of the green is a salvific feeling. The EP softly pushes us listeners in the midst of ethereal atmospheres, delicate string swells, and choral elements.
Quite a unique title - the “Urban Garden” project. How did it shape your musical vision, Edoardo, and why did it attract your attention?
Honestly, I was inspired by the magnificent set of artists that contributed to the creation of the EP. It contains three original tracks, entirely composed and produced by Alexandre de Charrin, a groundbreaking French ambient music producer known in art as Le Code, and KapTep, an ambient/drone project from the talented US-based producer Derek Carter. As we listen to the EP, we discover first “Bloom Where You Are Planted”, which I would define as the most iconic track of all. Lush and dense atmospheres are balanced by sparse found sounds and ethereal voices. It gives the sense of blooming and the sense of place. As we keep listening, we are met with “Photosynthesis” and “Hidden in Plain Sight”, two delicate tracks, as these were recorded on tiptoe by the artists. All the 3 tracks hold the meaning of slow development and of caring for the background movements of our souls, which, as plants, need light. The second half of the EP is another magnificent discovery: a rework of the first half. Each track is shaped, arranged, and registered by artists who certainly lead the current emerging scene of ambient music - Philippe Deschamps, Kilometre Club, and Brannan Lane. Delving into each rework leads to a distinct listening experience driven by a game of subtle layering and deep introspection. The “Urban Garden” EP in its entirety appears as a social reflection and a push towards human reconciliation with nature.
It was a pleasure to write again for letssubmit. With kindest regards and with the hope you all enjoyed reading and listening,
Edoardo
